The goal of BIM Talks is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are related to the successful implementation of BIM in real life, and on a wide range of topics to accelerate BIM adoption. BIM experts of different background from the industry will be invited to share their "how-to-BIM" experience in BIM Talks. This year, we will invite Organisation category awardees of the CIC Construction Digitalisation Award 2021 to share their BIM transformation initiatives and benefits, outcomes and performance that BIM brought to their organisations. Remarks: An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to participants with over 80% attendance within one month after the live webinar. CIC Webinar on BIM-Certification and Accreditation Schemes - Latest Updates, Tips and FAQ

In 2019, Construction Industry Council (CIC) launched the CIC BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes (the Schemes) to ascertain the competency of BIM practitioners and the quality of local BIM training programmes. The certification scheme for the BIM personnel deal with applicants who wish to be certified by CIC as BIM Managers (CCBM). The accreditation scheme for the BIM training courses is targeted at course providers who are offering or are going to offer BIM Manager courses. In March of 2020, we have announced to expand the current Schemes by launching the Certification of BIM Coordinators (CCBC) and Accreditation of BIM Coordinator Courses. This webinar aims to raise your understanding on the Schemes for BIM Managers and Coordinators, including: Why do you need the certification? The CIC BIM Competition aims to promote the practical use of BIM through collaborative and competitive learning approach among tertiary students in construction related disciplines. Continuing to encourage the wide adoption of BIM, the CIC held its forth BIM Competition this year which was successfully concluded in June. In this webinar, the awardees of the CIC BIM Competition 2022 will be presenting their work and showcase how they develop transitional housing for a proposed site using BIM for planning and design of modular housing which can be reused / relocated to other sites. The presentation of the awardees will allow the audience to understand more about the innovative ideas of the youngsters. They will also be sharing with the audience how they use BIM technology and the challenges during this competition. BIM Technical Sharing: Building Information Modelling in NEC4 concisely explained: Who, What, When and How

Abstract: This sharing session will concisely explain the Building Information Modelling in NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract. It will cover the Secondary Option Clause Option X10: Information modelling and other contractual issues related to BIM. Gordon will also cover the concept of Common Data Environment, some aspects of BS EN ISO 19650-2 and some tips of good BIM management in the context of NEC. The length of the sharing will be around 1.5 hours with 15 minutes Q&A session (inclusive). Speakers' Biography: Currently working as an Associate Director and a contract expert in JCP Consultancy International Limited, Gordon has experience across multiple infrastructure projects involving both NEC and traditional contracts such as General Conditions of Contract of Hong Kong SAR Government and Conditions of Contract in the private sector. Started off as a construction engineer for railway projects in Hong Kong, Gordon specialises in contract and procurement management in NEC. He has worked in both the private sector and the Hong Kong government as an engineering contract advisor. He has frequent and regular dialogues with policy makers, engineers, quantity surveyors, BIM experts, software developers and expert witnesses. Gordon is a legally trained chartered Civil Engineer, an accredited NEC Project Manager, an accredited mediator, an accredited adjudicator, and a trained negotiator with hands-on negotiation experience in the engineering industry. Development Bureau and the CIC are co-organising the first ever "Hong Kong Construction Common Data Environment Award" this year. The award aims to recognise local projects and organisations that best utilise Common Data Environment (CDE) to improve project management, collaboration, and productivities and share the awardees' experiences on utilising CDE for digital collaboration with the industry. The Award is now open for application until 30 September 2022. If you or your organisation(s) have been working on inspiring projects that utilise CDE to improve project management, collaboration, and productivities, apply now and share your valuable experiences with the industry.
