CIC BIM Competition 2022 is now open for application
Now in its fourth year, "CIC BIM Competition 2022" aims to challenge the participant's creativity and innovation in the design of transitional housing with the use of BIM. The competition is only eligible to full-time higher education (post-secondary) students in forming up a team of 3 to 5 members, with students from minimum 2 construction disciplines.

Teaching and Learning Kit for BIM Viewer Training
Teaching and Learning Kit for BIM Viewer Training
The CIC developed a "Teaching and Learning Kit" (the "Kit") for BIM Viewers training. The Kit is intended for both self-learning and instructor-led training. After completing the training through self-learning or taught course, practitioners could participate in a CIC online BIM Viewer Quiz and able to obtain a BIM Viewer Certificate.

A series of new & updated CIC BIM Standards publications in 2020 has won the Grand Award (BIM Projects - BIM initiatives Category) and the CIC has won the Gold Award (BIM Organisations - BIM Department / Units / Teams Category) at HKIBIM Awards 2020. The awards are recognition of our efforts and achievements in promoting the use of BIM.

The CIC has conducted a region-based BIM Adoption Survey in the year of 2020, with the aims to establish a fuller picture of the BIM adoption situation in the Hong Kong construction industry and a baseline for benchmarking BIM adoption.

Publish of new / updated BIM Standards and BIM-related publications
In December 2020, the following new / updated BIM Standards and BIM-related publications were published, and are available for download at the CIC BIM Portal.
1. CIC BIM Standards – General (with Hong Kong local Annex of ISO 19650-2:2018) Version 2 - December 2020
- The existing 2019 edition, namely "CIC BIM Standards – General (August 2019)" will be kept and maintained for the existing users. While the new edition (Version 2) is targeted for advanced / experienced users and who are considering to connect to the ISO standards.
- For the hierarchy / framework of CIC BIM Standards publications, please refer to the relevant Section 'Introduction' in the new edition.

Extending the success of previous two years, CIC BIM Competition will be organised in 2021 aiming to promote the practical uses of BIM through collaborative and competitive learning approach among tertiary students in construction related disciplines. Participants will be given project design requirements to develop a new CIC-Zero Carbon Park.
The Competition is only eligible to full-time tertiary (post-secondary) students in forming up a team of 3 to 5 members, with students from minimum 2 construction disciplines.

The CIC Recognises Organisations and Professionals via Celebration of BIM Achievement 2020
The CIC Recognises Organisations and Professionals via Celebration of BIM Achievement 2020
The results of the Celebration of BIM Achievement 2020 were announced and the recipients were invited to share their valuable experiences and achievements on BIM in the ceremony. The celebration included three categories of achievement, namely “BIM Projects 2020”, “BIM Organisations 2020” and “BIMers 2020”. Participants aged below 30 are recognised as “Young BIMers 2020”. Although this is the first ever Celebration of BIM Achievement organised by the CIC, it has received an enthusiastic reception from the industry, showing that BIM has been successfully adopted and implemented in Hong Kong.

The CIC today announced that CIC will expand the current CIC BIM Certification and Accreditation Schemes by launching the Certification of BIM Coordinators and Accreditation of BIM Coordinator Courses.

The project "Zero Carbon Building – Integration of BIM-AM (Building Information Modeling – Asset Management) with IoT (Internet of Things)" of Construction Industry Council and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, HKSAR Government has won the Autodesk Hong Kong BIM Awards 2019 organised by Autodesk Far East Limited.
