28/04/2021 | 16:00 - 17:00

Innovation is of great importance to the sustainable development of the Hong Kong construction industry, Hence, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has set up the Research and Technology Development Fund to provide financial support for research projects which can improve the performance and competitiveness of the industry. "BIM-based Rebar Design Optimisation and Prefabrication Automation" is one of the research projects funded by CIC and conducted by the Department of Civil and Environment Engineering of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The objectives of the research project are to: Develop an innovative optimisation approach for automated clash-free steel reinforcement design and to generate the three dimensional rebar BIM model, and Develop an automated BIM-based framework to generate the rebar detailing drawings and factory machine codes for rebar prefabrication. The following items will be presented in the webinar: Methodology Development Demonstration of Results and Developed Plugins: (1) Rebar design optimisation of RC components, (2) Automatic rebar clash avoidance, and (3) Semi-automatic generation of drawings and BVBS rebar prefabrication codes Conclusions We are delighted and honored to have Prof. Jack CHENG and Mr. Billy WONG as our guest speakers. They will share the methodology, results and the deliverables of the project in this webinar. Speakers: Prof. Jack CHENG, Associate Professor, Director of BIM Lab and Associate Director of GREAT Smart Cities Institute, HKUST Mr. Billy WONG, Research Assistant, Department of Civil and Environment Engineering, HKUST Should you have any queries, please contact Ms. Ella POON (email: bim@cic.hk.; tel: 2100 9053). Remarks: An electronic copy of CPD attendance certificate will be issued to participants with over 80% attendance within one month after the live webinar. Any attendance on replay sessions after webinar will not be considered for CPD attendance certificate. Replay video is now exclusive for i-Club members, please click here to join i-Club.

CIC Webinar on BIM - Development & Formulation of BIM Guide for Using BIM in Generation of MEP Digital Drawings for Statutory Submissions: 2nd Round Stakeholder Engagement Seminar

29/04/2021 | 10:00-12:00 / 14:30-16:30

The CIC had appointed A.C.I.D. as the Consultant to develop the BIM Guide for Using BIM in Generation of MEP Digital Drawings for Statutory Submissions. The BIM Guide aims to provide an alternative way of producing MEP statutory drawings by using BIM. The 1st round of Stakeholders Engagement Sessions was held on 9th Feb 2021 successfully and comments were well received, the Consultant has updated and enhanced the content. To ensure the views of industry practitioners are considered, two 2nd round Stakeholders Engagement Sessions will be conducted on 29th Apr, 2021. The webinars will explain the background of the project, objectives, methodology, deliverables and specific topics where your views are critical to contribute a success. Registration: AM Session (Cantonese Presentation with materials in English): Register PM Session (English Presentation with materials in English): Register (Contents of both sessions are identical) Should you have any queries, please contact Mr. Lok FUNG (email: bim@cic.hk; tel: 2100 9649).
BIM Awareness Seminar 2.0_v2

BIM Awareness Seminar and Workshop 2.0

30/04/2021 | 09:30 – 12:30

Please note that all visitors must complete a health declaration form, take body temperature and wear masks before entering CIC premises. Visitors who have a body temperature higher than 37 degrees Celsius, not wearing masks, or have been to the countries/areas with outbreaks of COVID-19 in the past 14 days (Details are in accordance with the updated health quarantine announcements by Centre for Health Protection), are not allowed to enter the CIC premises. For details of the latest CHP updates, please refer to: www.chp.gov.hk To promote the awareness and understanding of the Building Information Modelling (BIM), CIC is pleased to organize a new event named "BIM Awareness Seminar and Workshop 2.0" in CIC BIM Space for the industry. Similar to the previous "BIM Awareness Seminar" (Half-day) and "BIM Awareness Seminar and Workshop" (Full-day), the content of the "BIM Awareness Seminar and Workshop 2.0" has been upgraded with hands-on experience on BIM software and related technologies. Participants would also have opportunities to experience BIM applications at different stages of the project lifecycle. BIM Awareness Seminar and Workshop 2.0 1. Seminar - "What is BIM?"2. Guided Tour - BIM applications along the project lifecycle3. Hands-on Workshop – a taste of BIM and related software 4. Experience latest technologies – hologram table, VR, etc. (Remarks: More identical seminars will be organized in the coming months.) Participating in this event counts for 3 CPD hours. The e-Certificate of Attendance will be sent via email to participants within one month following the event. We will use the name on registration form to issue the attendance certificate. Enquiries: Please contact Ms. Wong at 2100 9034 or email to bim@cic.hk. Thank you.
BIM Solution Day

CIC Webinar on BIM Solution Day - Geometry Optimisation and Panelization for Complex BIM Models

05/05/2021 | 15:30 – 17:00

The "BIM Solution Day" aims at promoting the latest BIM-related solutions to stakeholders. Every time, we have a different theme to introduce stakeholders about the latest solutions in a particular area. We are glad to have the participation of Graphisoft. Being able to manage complex geometries and large projects can be a challenge to our industry when implementing a real BIM workflow. Enzyme APD, a Hong Kong based BIM consultant, technology implementer and Architectural design office, develop Computational Design Workflows combined with GDL scripts to optimise the way complex geometries are handled in our BIM project. Smart Panelisation and the data extracted from it can be crucial for construction of large and complex projects. Please join us to learn how these best practices in the use of Computational Design and BIM technology can assist us to handle larger geometric data for a lean BIM workflow and optimised project development. Speaker: Mr. Jorge Beneitez, Director @ enzyme APD - BIM Manager by Graphisoft An ARCHICAD Registered Consultant and an expert in BIM and Grasshopper, he has developed workflows between both platforms seeking the better performance of these tools and enhancing the design capabilities of BIM workflows through computational design.
